Bal Vidhan Sabha

State Commission for the protection of Child Rights Uttarakhand along-with Shri Bhuvaneshwari Mahila Ashram (SBMA), Plan India and Education department of Uttarakhand throttled two new experiments on 26th January 2014.The former contrasted on the active participation of children in the legislation while the latter focused on the celebrating of 26th of January as Child Rights Day.The glory of this experiment was enhanced by the presence of Honorable Governor of Uttarakhand, Sh. Aziz Qureshi ,who in turn, met with the children (Child MLA's), coming from different districts of Uttarakhand.

       
 Mr. Ajay Setia, former Chaperon of SCPCR proudly  proclaimed bal vidhansabha as a "sword for children".

  During first session  (26 January 2014) of  Baal Vidhansabha several steps have been taken by child MLA's.,some of them are :-
  • Against corruption in education.
  • Against sexual exploitation with children. (A case of girls hostel)
  • Against child labor. (CLAP)
  • Against corporal punishment in schools.
Sandeep Pant, Former Chief Minister of Baal vidhansabha and  Aditya Verma, Former Speaker of Baal Vidhansabha, especially met Nobel peace prize laureate Mr. Kailash Satyarthi.






On second session of Baal Vidhansabha (14 November 2014), 52 child MLA's were invited from different schools from 13 districts of Uttarakhand by SCPCR and 18 child MLA's were invited from NGO's. Better work have been done after second season of Baal Vidhansabha. There are a few steps.
As example - what is the reason for the lack of  enrollment of children in schools ? Keeping this in mind, the Chief Education Officer has directed all the education officers to extend full cooperation to the Baal Vidhansabha.
Why schools are not working according to the guidelines prescribed by government in Right to Education Act of 2009 ?
