New Delhi : The run-up to the Indo-Africa Forum Summit 2015 has in store theatre, dance and musical performances that look to bring together India and Africa. The summit will be held here from October 26 to 29.

The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC), the India-Africa Summit Cell of the Union Ministry of External Affairs and the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) have organised a variety of cultural shows in collaboration with the 9th Delhi International Arts Festival at Nehru Park in Chanakyapuri. The events, which are open to all and free of charge, begin at 6.30 p.m.

On Friday, K.A Abbas’s play titled ‘Barrister at Law’ — which looked at the time Mahatma Gandhi spent in South Africa — was staged by Akshara Theatre.

Saturday and Sunday will see performances by Egyptian whirling dervishes and bands from Ethiopia, Ghana, South Africa, Rwanda and India performing.

October 31 will see a choreographed performance titled ‘Africa in India’ by artistes from Zambia, Ghana, Uganda and Ethiopia.

This show will first be presented before the visiting heads of governments at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 29.

The NDMC, meanwhile, will dedicate an India-Africa friendship rose garden to the cause at Shantipath on Sunday, which will be inaugurated by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. The High Commissioners and Ambassadors of African nations will be invited to plant saplings at the garden.
